Mr. Lim’s illustrious career in journalism spanned nearly four decades, marked by his significant contributions to major international news outlets. He served as the Bureau Chief for Reuters in both Beijing and Taipei until his retirement in 2018. Following his tenure at Reuters, he continued his journalistic endeavors as the Global Affairs Correspondent for Singapore’s The Straits Times, based in Beijing, where he worked until his passing.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Lim was a multi-awarded media practitioner, renowned for his insightful reporting and dedication to the field of journalism. His work not only informed the public but also fostered a deeper understanding of global affairs, particularly in the context of China’s evolving role on the world stage.
Mr. Lim’s connection to Xavier School was both profound and enduring. He played a pivotal role in the Xavier China Experience (XCE) in Beijing, a program designed to immerse Grade 12 students in Chinese culture, language, and perspectives. As a key figure in this initiative, he regularly served as a resource speaker, offering invaluable insights to students during their visits. His commitment to the program and the school was unwavering; he continued to welcome and mentor XCE Beijing participants at his Reuters office until his retirement.
The mutual fondness between Mr. Lim and Xavier School was evident in his continuous support and engagement with the institution. His contributions enriched the educational experiences of many students, leaving an indelible mark on the school’s community.
