From May 19–20, the Parents’ Orientations for Kindergarten to Grade 6 were held via Zoom video conferences. The series of orientations were done in three clusters: Grade 5 to Grade 6, Kinder to Grade 1, and Grade 2 to Grade 4. This is the first time in Xavier School that the orientations for parents were scheduled pre-enrollment and facilitated using an online platform.
Overall, the following topics were covered:
Fr. Aristotle Dy, SJ, School President, discussed institutional concerns on the school calendar, tuition and fees, and “the new normal.”
Mrs. Jane Cacacho, GS Principal, talked about XSEL: Xavier School E-Learning, important definition of terms, the curriculum, schedule, grading, devices and apps to be used, as well as enrollment concerns.
Mr. Jay Perez, GS Asst. Principal for Academics, presented the academic support that students can expect from the school especially through the Specialists Block.
Mrs. Joal Ria Orqueza, GS Asst. Principal for Formation, covered topics on parent support. This includes the monitoring of schoolwork, orientation workshops for parents, the assurance of constant communication with parents, among others.
Other essential matters, such as policies on uniform and haircut, books and school supplies, the learning space at home, and suggestions on how parents can help their children adjust to changes in the school set up were also discussed by the GS Team Leaders: Mr. Dindo Bugarin for G5–G6, Ms. Garielle Gatmaitan for K–G1, and Mrs. Maricon Leehuekee for G2–G4.
