Last Sunday, September 1, 2019, the International Master (IM) Joel Banawa Chess Cup, Rapid Chess Championship, held in honor of IM Rolly Martinez, happened at Open Kitchen in Rockwell Business Center-Sheridan, Highwayhills Greenfields District, Mandaluyong City. 146 competitors from Metro Manila and nearby provinces competed in the 14-years old and under division. 

Ivan Travis Cu (G5I) , 10-years old, won a medal for 8th place, the youngest player to finish in the top 15. He defeated the 6th, 8th, and 14th seed, and drew with the 12th seeded player who were all rated over 100 points above Ivan’s.
