Xavier athletes contributed seven medals to the National Capital Region Team that finished overall first in the recently concluded 2019 Palarong Pambansa held from April 27 to May 4 in Davao City.
Archery brothers Sean Jonathan and Ryan Jacob Tanco fuelled the NCR team into snatching the Secondary Boys’ Team Event Gold. Sean bagged another Gold medal in the Boys’ Individual 50-Meter Distance, and a Bronze in the Boys’ Individual 30-Meter.
Batch 2019 graduate, Keane Cedric Ting, harvested four Swimming Gold medals. A recipient of the Fr. Rafael Cortina, S.J. Exemplary Athlete Award for the graduating class of 2019, Keane proved his prowess once again by setting a new Palarong Pambansa Secondary Boys’ 50-Meter Freestyle record at 25.39 seconds. He also topped the 100-Meter Freestyle and anchored the NRC Team to win the 4 x 50 Medley Relay and the 4 x 100 Medley Relay (also a new meet record).
