Xaverians Win Anew in International Math Competitions

Xaverians won anew in various mathematics competitions held this quarter. The following is a list of the competitions and the names of the students who bagged awards:


Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC)
SIMOC is an international competition in mathematics facilitated virtually on July 24, 2021 for the top Grades 2-11 bets of the world. The competition tests the contestants’ ability to solve mathematical problems and to collaborate as a team to play interactive games and solve puzzles. The most successful stint for SIMOC was recorded this year by Team Philippines after hauling 10 top recognitions, and 328 individual and group awards. The Xaverians who succeeded in this competition are: 

Sean Pio Derrick Angeles (G8A) – 3 Silver Medals for Math Olympiad, Math Mastermind, and Mind Sports Challenge
Yuan Manolo Ramirez (G9A) – 2 Bronze Medals for Math Olympiad and Mind Sports Challenge and a certificate for Math Mastermind

Asia International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO 2021)
AIMO is a collaborative international organization among mathematical research organizations and individuals. This aims to provide students a platform to further improve their qualities in scientific thinking and creative insights. AIMO 2021 was held on August 1, 2021 via Zoom. The following students from Xavier were given awards: 

Sean Eugene Chua (G12A) – Gold
Miguel Sebastian Borbe (G11B) – Bronze
Mikhail Stefan Borbe (G11C) – Bronze

Math Without Borders
Amidst the pandemic the world is facing, Math without Borders was still able to hold the tournament remotely on August 5-7, 2021.  These students emerged as winners in this competition. 

Josh Daniel Cua (G12A) – Bronze
Robert William Ang (G8C) – Certificate
