Xavier School, one of the Philippines’ premier educational institutions, hosted the delegation from the Singapore Schools – Ministry of Education on September 14, 2023, for a day filled with insightful exchanges, tours, and collaborative discussions.
The highly-anticipated visit began with a plenary session held at Xavier School San Juan’s campus, where administrators from both institutions gathered to engage in discussions aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of each other’s educational systems and practices. The session included Mrs. Ma. Theresa Ladrido (HS Principal), Mrs. Joal Ria Orqueza, (GS Assistant Principal for Formation), Mr. Jay Perez, (GS Assistant Principal for Academics), and Ms. Yolly Reyes (Integrated Chinese Department Chairperson).
One of the key highlights of the visit was the articulation sessions that followed, where members of the Singapore Schools – Ministry of Education met their counterparts at Xavier School in various departments. These included Physical Education, Partnership and Engagements, English, Integrated Chinese, Filipino, and Special Education Strategies, and Middle Program. These sessions provided a unique opportunity for educators from both countries to share best practices, innovative teaching methods, and strategies to enhance the learning experiences of their students.
The visiting delegation was also treated to a comprehensive tour of Xavier School’s grade school and high school facilities. The tour showcased the state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and vibrant learning spaces that contribute to Xavier School’s commitment to providing quality education.
The day concluded with a delightful lunch, where members of both institutions continued their discussions in a more relaxed setting. This was followed by the closing activities, which included the exchange of tokens of appreciation and promise for future collaborations between Xavier School and the Singapore Schools – Ministry of Education.
Speaking about the visit, Mr. Perez expressed his optimism about the partnership opportunities that emerged during the day. “The school visit resulted in a much-needed sharing of best practices, and adoption of effective school policies not just in terms of academic aspect but also in the logistical areas. It also opened up a lot of possible and workable collaboration between the two institutions for the students and faculty to enrich 21st-century skills in teaching and learning.â€
